Two Lady Rebel Netters Advance At ITA South Regional

ATHENS, Ga. Two members of the Ole Miss women’s tennis team advanced to the third round at the ITA South Regional Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex Saturday night.

Sophomore Soledad Podlipnik won two matches to reach the round of 16 in Flight B singles.  In the first round, she downed Samaria Bailey of Florida A&M 6-1, 6-1, before beating Natalie Gorham of Stetson, 6-4, 6-0.  She will face Andrea Brenes of Alabama in the third round Sunday.

Freshman Yana Kireeva picked up where she left off at the last tournament, by claiming both her matches on the first day.  After topping Ayano Tanaka of Kennesaw State 6-3, 6-3, Kireeva, knocked off the No. 2 seed, Radka Ferancova of Mississippi State, 6-2, 6-4.  She will face Stephanie Viera of Troy in the third round Sunday.

Action resumes Sunday at 8 a.m. with two rounds of doubles followed by one round of singles.
