Play Suspended Monday At Mason Rudolph

10/22/2007 | Men's Golf

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The second round of the 2007 Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate, in which the Ole Miss men's golf team currently leads, was suspended due to inclement weather Monday in the area of the Vanderbilt Legends Club of Tennessee.

Play is scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. CT on Tuesday morning to complete the second round.  The tournament will be shortened to a 36-hole event.  All 93 players were on the course when play was halted around 2:45 p.m. due to heavy rain. After consulting forecasts for the remainder of the day, tournament organizers decided to stop Monday’s play.

A two-hour delay that began around 11:30 a.m. also caused problems on Monday morning, but Legends’ staff was able to get the course back to playing shape until the weather turned foul again.

Ole Miss (283) held a one-stroke lead over Mississippi State (284) after round one of the event, originally scheduled for 54 holes.  Freshman Jonathan Randolph and junior Jesse Speirs were both tied for third after the first round with 69s.
