Lady Rebels To Host Free Basketball Clinic And Open Scrimmage

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's basketball team presents a full day of free basketball fun as the Lady Rebels are slated to host a basketball clinic followed by an open scrimmage Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m. from the Tad Smith Coliseum.
Open to all children ages 5-14, the free basketball clinic is scheduled from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on the coliseum floor. Headed by Ole Miss first-year head coach Renee Ladner, the basketball clinic will provide future Rebels the opportunity to participate in skill drills, take pictures, receive autographs and meet the Lady Rebels. Following the clinic, Ole Miss fans will get their first opportunity to see the Lady Rebels in action at 2:00 p.m. in the team's only open scrimmage of the season. The 2007-08 edition of the Lady Rebels return two starters and 11 letterwinners from a team that reached the Elite Eight a season ago. Ole Miss' magical run in the NCAA Tournament began with an 88-74 win over TCU in the opening round before dethroning 2006-07 NCAA defining champion Maryland 89-78 in the second round. The Lady Rebels next bounded Big 12 champion Oklahoma from the tournament with a 90-82 victory to advance to the school's fifth Elite Eight.
Ole Miss competes in its first action of the season Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. when the Lady Rebels host DT-3 in an exhibition game from the Tad Smith Coliseum. Ole Miss opens the regular season Nov. 11 at 2:05 p.m. with a trip to Lincoln, Neb., to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Lady Rebels welcome Louisiana-Lafayette to Oxford Nov. 18 at 2:00 p.m. for the regular season opener at the Tad Pad.
