Ole Miss-Louisiana Tech Postgame Notes

SERIES INFORMATION

This meeting was the ninth all-time between Ole Miss and Louisiana Tech, dating back to 1911, with all nine games being staged in Oxford.

The Rebels hold an 8-1 lead in the series and have won three straight.

Today’s game was the teams’ first matchup since 1992 and only the third since 1946.

TEAM NOTES

Ole Miss’ 24-point winning margin marked the largest under head coach Ed Orgeron.

The Rebels are now 65-13-2 (.825 winning pct.) all-time in Homecoming games and are riding an 11-game win streak on Homecoming.

Ole Miss scored first for the third straight game and has outscored the opposition 27-7 in the first quarter this year.

The Rebel football program is now four wins short of 600 ... Ole Miss boasts an all-time record of 596-455-35 (.565 winning percentage).

 

OFFENSIVE NOTES

In his second game back, sophomore WR Dexter McCluster posted three catches for 48 yards, including a 28-yard TD grab in the first quarter... It was his most receptions since the fourth game of last year against Wake Forest (six catches for 60 yards).

Junior WR Mike Wallace did not catch a TD pass today, ending his streak at four straight games ... Wallace led the team with five receptions for 72 yards.

Senior QB Seth Adams completed 16-of-32 passes for 167 yards with two TDs and three interceptions ... It marked only the second game this year in which he threw for under 200 yards.

Sophomore WR Shay Hodge hauled in his third TD of the year on a 17-yarder in his lone catch.

                                                                                                    

DEFENSIVE NOTES

The Rebel defense recorded its first shutout under Ed Orgeron and first since the 2003 regular-season finale at Mississippi State (31-0).

Junior LB Ashlee Palmer led the team with career-highs of 15 total tackles and 11 solos ... Both marked the most by a Rebel this season.

Making his first career start, junior LB Brandon Thomas registered a career-high six stops.

Sophomore DL Greg Hardy notched a career-high four TFLs and ended the day with six tackles.

Making his first career start, freshman DB Johnny Brown posted a career-high six tackles.

Freshman DB Fon Ingram saw his most action yet and was credited with career highs of four tackles, including three solos.

Redshirt freshman Kentrell Lockett posted his first career sack.

                                                                                    

SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES

Junior DB Dustin Mouzon recovered a blocked field goal and returned it 55 yards for a TD in the fourth quarter ... It marked his second non-offensive TD of the year, as he returned an interception 99 yards for a TD at Memphis.

Ole Miss failed to return a kickoff, as the lone Tech kickoff was fair caught by Brandon Thomas to start the second half.
