OXFORD, Miss. On the heels on a convincing 86-60 win over Louisiana-Lafayette Sunday evening, the Ole Miss women’s basketball team looks to continue its winning ways when the Lady Rebels host Alabama A&M Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. from Tad Smith Coliseum.

Ole Miss head coach Renee Ladner earned her first career victory as she watched three of her players notch career performances against the Ragin’ Cajuns.  Junior center Shawn Goff tallied a career-high 23 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field to surpass her previous career-best 18 points set on two different occasions.  Goff also tied senior forward Carla Bartee with a game-high seven rebounds.  Bartee enters the game ranked fourth in the SEC with 9.0 rebounds per game following her performance at Nebraska in which she collected a career-high 11 rebounds.

Sophomore forward Elizabeth Robertson turned in a career-high 17 points as she went 7-for-8 from the field, including a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range in her first career start.  Sophomore guard Shantell Black registered her first career double-double as she collected 10 points to go along with a career-high 10 assists.  Freshman Kayla Melson fell one point shy of a double-double of her own as she recorded nine points, a game-high six steals and 10 assists.  Both Black and Melson now rank first in the SEC as the only two players in the SEC to record 10 assists in any single game thus far this season.

Alabama A&M (0-1) enters play having dropped its season-opener 72-70 at Jacksonville State as the Gamecocks converted a layup with three seconds remaining to earn the victory.  Bulldog guard Rebekkah Barnes averages 21.0 points per game to lead Alabama A&M, while center Chaymieyon Moss averages 10.0 points per game as the only other Bulldog to average double figures.  Last season, Alabama A&M finished the year with a 17-13 overall record, 13-5 in the SWAC en route to a third place finish inside the conference.  Tuesday’s game also marks the homecoming for Alabama A&M assistant coach Dorianne Johnson.  Johnson played for Ole Miss from 1993-96 under former head coach Van Chancellor.  Johnson, now in her second year at Alabama A&M, was a three-year starter for the Lady Rebels and helped lead the team to two NCAA Sweet 16 appearances along with several top-15 rankings.

Tuesday’s game between Ole Miss and Alabama A&M will be the first meeting between the two schools on the hardwood.  Although the Lady Rebels have never faced the Bulldogs, Ole Miss has experienced a great deal of success against teams hailing from the SWAC.  The Lady Rebels own a 58-6 all-time record against teams from the SWAC and have won 44 consecutive games against teams from that conference.  The last time Ole Miss was beaten by a SWAC team was Jan. 12, 1980 when Ole Miss was defeated 70-66 at Alcorn State.
