Lady Rebel Netters Advance To Quarterfinals At SEC Fall Classic

AUBURN, Ala. Ole Miss freshman Laura van de Stroet advanced to the quarterfinals  of Flight 1 Singles, while sophomore Soledad Podlipnik won two matches Friday to advance to the quarterfinals of Flight 3 Singles at the SEC Fall Coaches Classic hosted by Auburn. 

van de Stroet received a first round bye, and then held off Megan Broderick of Kentucky, 6-1, 0-6, 6-1 in the second round.  She will face the No. 3 seed, Catherine Newman, of Vanderbilt, in the quarterfinals Saturday.

In the first round of Flight 3 Singles, Podlipnik came back to defeat Vanderbilt’s Liberty Sveke, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.  In the second round, she downed Bianca Svensson of Alabama, 6-0, 7-5.  She will meet Suzie Mansour of South Carolina in the quarterfinals.

First Round Soledad Podlipnik (OM) def. Liberty Sveke (VU) 4-6, 6-2, 7-5; Second Round Podlipnik (OM) def. Bianca Svensson (UA) 6-0, 7-5; Miki Jovic (USC) def. Preethi Subramanian (OM) 6-3, 6-2.
