Recently, Ole Miss Athletics and the M-Club Alumni Chapter welcomed over 50 former Rebel football players back to their old stomping ground.
Members of the 1986 to 1996 Ole Miss football teams returned to campus for a reunion in their honor during the final home weekend of the 2007 season. With the current players taking on top-ranked LSU, the former Rebels and their families enjoyed The Grove, tailgating on the lawn in front of the
John Currence, Chef and Owner of City Grocery, provided the meal for the tailgate, which had roasted hog as the featured dish. A special thanks from the M-Club Alumni Chapter, athletics department and reunion participants to Currence for his generous contribution.
Special guests for the weekend’s festivities were Carver Phillips and his family representing the late Chucky Mullins. The players showed their appreciation to Phillips for continuing the legacy of what Mullins means to them and the University.

To conclude their trip, the reunion participants were special guests on the sidelines prior to the football game. They visited with staff from their Ole Miss tenure as well as friends and fans that appreciated the contributions they made to the Rebel football program.
“It was truly exciting to see so many former teammates again and reminisce about the special times we shared at Ole Miss,” said Deano Orr, who lettered 1990-93 and helped organize the reunion. “Teammates like Shawn Cobb and Todd Sandroni set a standard of excellence academically and athletically for players like myself, and that tradition is still being passed on today.
“Perhaps the most emotional and moving moment for me during that weekend was seeing Chucky Mullins' guardians, Carver and Karen Phillips, interact with Randy Baldwin and others who played along side Chucky. (Ole Miss staff members) Clay Cavett, Derek Horne and Teresa Littlefield truly made this a day to remember.”
Cobb, a linebacker and 1990 co-captain, said it was great to see his football family again.
“It's always fun hanging out with guys that I spent so much time with as college athletes, and now 15-20 years later, to see everyone is doing well with families and good lives is a wonderful feeling” said Cobb. “We hope to do more in the future to keep our bond strong. I commend the University officials and staff for all their work to make this event happen.”
Horne, Ole Miss Associate Athletics Director, said the weekend was an overwhelming success.
“We were pleased with the response to this event,” he said. “I would like to personally thank Clay Cavett, Deano Orr and John Currence for their support of this event. Their support truly added to the success of the event.”
