No. 13 Rebels Fall To No. 21 Evansville 2-1

The Rebels left 11 runners stranded despite nine hits in the loss. Brett Basham went 1-for-4 with his only hit in the form of an RBI single in the eighth to push the lone run across for Ole Miss. Fuller Smith led the Rebels at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance while Jordan Henry went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Lance Lynn (1-1) suffered the loss for the Rebels as he allowed two runs on five hits with one walk. He tied a career-high with nine strikeouts on the afternoon. Nathan Baker, a freshman southpaw, worked 3.0 scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts and no walks.
Kai Tuomi (2-0) picked up the win for the Purple Aces as he worked 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing only four hits while walking two and striking out only one Rebel batter. Matt Brinkmann picked up the save, his second, as he came in to hold the Rebels off the board in the ninth.
“Lance pitched well today. Especially at the end. He was sharp the last inning. They had a couple of infield hits, but that's part of the game. Offensively we hit a lot of hard balls. We didn't have a lot of opportunities and we didn't take advantage of the ones we had.”

The Rebels got a run back in the eighth when Jordan Henry scored on a single through the left side from Basham. Henry reached on a single before stealing second. He then scored on the hit from Basham to put the Rebels on the board.
Ole Miss was unable to get another run across as the Purple Aces snagged the 2-1 win and evened the series at a game each.
Zelenovich led the Purple Aces at the plate as he went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Viscomi notched the other RBI for the visiting team.
