Lady Rebel Netters To Begin Four-Match Road Swing Friday

OXFORD, Miss. The Ole Miss women’s tennis team will begin a four-match road swing this weekend at Vanderbilt.  The Lady Rebels and No. 18-ranked Commodores will square off at 2:30 p.m., Friday in Nashville.

 

Ole Miss, who has battled injuries all season, takes a 4-10 record, 0-3 mark in league play into Nashville.  The Lady Rebels are led by senior Ilona Somers who is ranked No. 97 with a 9-4 record at No. 1 singles.    Freshman Soledad Podlipnik holds an 8-6 record and also teams with Nika Koukhartchouk for a 6-0 record at No. 3 doubles.

 

Vanderbilt comes into the weekend at 11-5 and 4-0 in the SEC.  The Commodores are undefeated at home.  All-American Amanda Fish, ranked No. 32 in the nation, leads the Commodore squad.

 

On Sunday, the Lady Rebels will battle No. 22 Kentucky at Noon CST.  The Wildcats enter the weekend at 13-1 and 4-0 in the SEC.  They are led by Joelle Schwenk and Kim Coventry, who are ranked No. 5 in doubles.
