Ole Miss Women's Tennis Loses 6-1 At Kentucky

The Lady Rebels knew it would be an uphill battle, with an injury-plagued lineup and coming in with a 10-48 record when losing the doubles since 2002.
Once in singles, Ole Miss evened the match at No. 1 as 97th-ranked Ilona Somers shut out Kim Coventry 6-0, 6-0. With the win, Somers improved to 10-5 at No. 1 singles and 2-3 in the SEC.
After that, it was all
Carlin Cochran lost to Wildcat freshman Whitney Spencer, 6-1, 7-5 on court six as the Wildcats clinched the win.
Once the match was clinched, sophomore Kseniia Tokarieva retired just before the third set against
The Lady Rebels were competitive on court five as well. Preethi Subramanian, who just returned to the lineup in early March, won her first set against Jessica Giuggioli, 7-5. She lost the second set 6-4 and then the supertiebreaker.
The Lady Rebels continue on the road next weekend as they head to LSU for a 4 p.m. match on Friday.
