Reese Named SEC Women's Field Athlete Of The Week

OXFORD, Miss. Ole Miss track and field sophomore Britney Reese was named the Southeastern Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

 

Reese, who earned All-America honors in the long jump during indoor season, won the women’s long jump at the Alabama Relays with a mark of 21-07.50. The jump was an NCAA regional qualifying mark as well as the longest in the SEC and the third longest in the nation this year.

 

The Gulfport, Miss. native also recorded a NCAA regional qualifying mark in the high jump with a mark of 5-08.75 which placed her third at the meet. The high jump was the best mark in the SEC and tenth best in the nation heading into the weekend.

 

Reese and the Rebels are not in action this week as they prepare to host the Ole Miss Invitational on April 7 at the Ole Miss Track and Field Complex.
