COLUMBIA, S.C. The Ole Miss women’s tennis team dropped its SEC opener to South Carolina (7-0) Sunday afternoon at the Maxcy Gregg Tennis Center. With the loss, the Lady Rebels fell to 4-7 overall and 0-1 in league play.
South Carolina (8-2, 2-0) jumped on the Lady Rebels early and never let up. In doubles, Ole Miss lost 8-0 at No. 2 and 8-3 at No. 1 as the Gamecocks went up 1-0.
In singles, the Lady Rebels fell behind and never recovered. South Carolina posted straight set victories on courts two, six and five in that order to secure the win.
The Lady Rebels will be back in action this weekend as they host Alabama and Auburn in their SEC home opener. Friday’s match with the Crimson Tide will begin at 4 p.m. Fans will receive free pizza compliments of 3 Guys Pizza.
