Bukvich makes his second mid-week start of the season after taking a win over Arkansas State last week. Bukvich has struck out 27 batters on the year.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES:
Southern Miss enters the weekend coming off a series win at UCF that moved the Golden Eagles to a 3-4 record in C-USA. Trey Cuevas leads the Golden Eagles at the plate with a .351 average on the year, including six home runs and 41 RBI. Ryan Belanger leads the pitching staff with a 2.28 ERA and a 5-2 record. As a team, the Golden Eagles are hitting .281 while the pitching staff holds to a 3.89 ERA on the year.

SOUTHERN MISS GAME OUTLOOK:
Ole Miss can sweep the two-game series with a win over the Golden Eagles on Wednesday and gain momentum heading on the road to LSU. Southern Miss will be looking to avoid the streak and carry its winning streak to three games heading into the weekend.

THROUGH 34 GAMES IN 2006:
Through 34 games a year ago, the Rebels had posted an 20-14 record, four games behind this season's pace. Ole Miss was batting .295 as a team, while the pitching staff was holding to a 4.14 ERA through 300.1 innings pitched. The Rebels were 53-of-67 in steal attempts on the year and were coming off a 1-0 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks in the opening game of the weekend series in Columbia. Ole Miss had hit four fewer home runs with 26.
