4/11/2007 | Men's Golf

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Ole Miss senior Callum Macaulay has been named the SEC Golfer of the Week for his outstanding performance at the Palisades Collegiate Golf Classic this week.  This is the first such honor for Macaulay.

Macaulay recorded his best 54-hole tournament finish with the Rebels, taking home second, just two strokes behind medalist Brad Benjamin of Memphis.  He carded a 71-68-70209 to tie with Dawie VanDerWalt of Lamar, who is ranked No. 9 in the country.  Macaulay’s second place showing marks his sixth top-five finish of the year.

The Kincardine, Scotland native, led the Rebels to a third place finish with six teams in the top 50 in the field.  The 286-285-287--858 marked the team’s lowest 54-hole score of the year and gave them their fifth top-five finish of the season.

The Rebels will now prepare for the upcoming SEC Championship to be held April 20-22 at St. Simon’s Island, Ga.
