Ole Miss Rifle Announces Signing Of Erica Swanson

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss rifle head coach Valerie Boothe announced the signing of Erica Swanson on Friday to a national letter of intent to join program beginning in the 2007-08 academic year.

 

Swanson joins the Ole Miss rifle team after a successful prep career at St. Vincent’s Academy in Savannah, Ga, where he served as the team captain for the rifle team the past three years. She earned all-state honors her senior season and finished ranked No. 7 in the state. She was also named the top shooter in her region. She placed first in her division for the smallbore at the NRA 2007 Junior Selections at Ft. Benning, Ga. and has competed at three USA national competitions.

 

Swanson also excels academically at St. Vincent’s Academy. She has twice been named Who-Who’s Among High School Students and is a three-time member of the National Honor Society. An avid artist, Swanson received the Congressional Art Award and has attended the Savannah College of Art and Design Summer Seminar.

 

“We are very excited about Erica joining our program,” said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. “She has really progressed as a shooter and I know that she continue her growth here at Ole Miss.”

 

Swanson joins signees Corinne Hawkins of Spokane, Wash., Meredith Holman of Annandale, Va., and Stacie Leatherman of Boonsboro, Md., who signed with Ole Miss in the fall.
