Armintie Price Invited To Attend WNBA Draft Wednesday

Cleveland, OH (April 2, 2007) Twenty-two of the top women's basketball prospects from around the world have been invited and will attend the 2007 WNBA Draft presented by adidas on Wednesday, April 4. The list is highlighted by familiar names Armintie Price, Lindsey Harding, Ivory Latta, Alison Bales and Jessica Davenport as well as by players with international ties such as Shay Doron (Israel), Nare Diawara (Mali), Gillian Goring (Trinidad) and Kathrin Ress (Italy).
Price enters the draft after completing a stellar college career with Ole Miss. The 5-foot-9 guard led the Rebels to their first Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1992 and became just the second player in NCAA history to post over 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 400 assists and 400 steals in a career joining the legendary Cheryl Miller.
The Draft will cap off a week-long celebration of events surrounding women's basketball in Cleveland. The Renaissance Hotel in Cleveland's Public Square will host the Draft, beginning at 1 p.m. ET. ESPN2 will provide live first-round coverage while ESPNU and NBATV will provide continued live coverage of the second and third rounds from 2-3:30 p.m. In addition, WNBA.com will cover all three rounds, providing complete analysis and comprehensive information on all 13 teams' selections.
The WNBA will tip off its second decade of play in 2007 and will feature a record number of national telecasts. Comprehensive coverage of the WNBA regular season will include 91 national telecasts on ABC, ESPN2 and NBA TV. The season will begin on May 19 when the defending champion Detroit Shock hosts the Sacramento Monarchs in a rematch of last year's WNBA Finals. The WNBA All-Star Game will be played at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. on July 15 at 3:30 pm ET with live coverage on ABC.
In 2006, the WNBA concluded its historic tenth season with an action-packed WNBA Playoffs. The 2006 WNBA Finals capped a playoff run in which the WNBA saw significant increases in attendance and viewership. The Finals, which aired live on ESPN2, saw the Detroit Shock top the Sacramento Monarchs in the first WNBA Finals match up ever to go to a fifth and deciding game.
