Coleman, Orieukwu Compete At USA Track Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. Ole Miss track and field freshman Davina Orieukwu broke her own school record in the shot put with a mark of 48-03.50 to finish fourth at the USA Junior Championships. The USA Junior Championships are open to competitors ages 19 and under.
 
The Houston, Texas, native bettered her previous school record of 48-01.75 she set at the NCAA MidEast Regional. She also finished fifth in the shot put at the SEC Outdoor Championships.
 
“We are very excited for Davina,” said Ole Miss head coach Joe Walker. “She prepared very hard and had a chance to win. She was in it to the very end. Any time you set a personal best is a good day.”
 

All-American Kenyata Coleman finished 18th in the 400 meters at the USA Championships. Coleman finished in time of 53.18. She holds the school record in the 400 meters with a time of 52.19.


Other athletes competing in the USA Championships,which runs through Saturday, include Brittney Reese (long jump) and John Yarbrough (110-meter hurdles).
