Rodriguez, Argiro Join Rebel Football Staff

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss head coach Ed Orgeron announced Wednesday that former University of Miami (Fla.) center Joel Rodriguez has joined the Rebel coaching staff as a graduate assistant for offense. "We expect Joel to be a tremendous asset on the offensive side of the ball," Orgeron said, noting that Rodriguez played for current Ole Miss assistant head coach and offensive line coach Art Kehoe at Miami. "Joel already knows the system and will do a good job of teaching our offensive linemen. He was an outstanding center at Miami." The addition of Rodriguez resulted when graduate assistant Chris Kiffin recently left the staff for personal reasons. Following Kiffin's departure, Orgeron moved graduate assistant coach Brad Villavaso from offense to defense, thereby opening a spot for Rodriguez to coach offense. Rodriguez earned four letters while playing for Kehoe and the Hurricanes. After playing his first two years as a back-up center, Rodriguez became the anchor of Miami's offensive line as he started his final two seasons. Rodriguez, who received his undergraduate degree prior to his senior season, was a 2003 Verizon Academic All-District III honoree, earned Big East All-Academic honors three years and was selected to the All-ACC Academic team. Rodriguez, who played in the 2004 Villages Gridiron Classic, signed a free-agent contract with the National Football League Tennessee Titans and was a member of the practice squad in 2005 before being allocated to the NFL Europe Berlin Thunder for the 2006 season. Orgeron also announced Wednesday that Paul Argiro has joined the staff as Coordinator of Football Video Services. "Paul brings over 25 years of football video production experience to our staff," Orgeron said. "He has exceptional filming skills when it comes to games and practices and will be a major asset to our program." Prior to joining Ole Miss, Argiro served as Video Coordinator at Florida International University, the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Miami.
