Rebels Practice Inside For Second Straight Day

8/30/2007 | Football

OXFORD, Miss. -- Thunderstorms rolled through the area late Thursday afternoon, forcing the Rebels to practice in the Indoor Practice Facility for a second straight day in preparation for Saturday’s season opener against Memphis.

“Obviously it’s good to have the Indoor Practice Facility,” head coach Ed Orgeron said.  “Being inside is what it is. We talked to our team about no matter the circumstances,’ we have to perform.

“We are making our final preparations for the game.  You can see the team has a different energy level. Their eyes are a little bigger.  There is more attention to detail and more focus.”

Orgeron talked about Seth Adams’ play and how he’s dealt with being named the starting quarterback.

“He’s handled it pretty good,” Orgeron said.  “I think it’s helped him and the team.  We’ve seen a lot more confidence in him out there.  He’s had some good practices.  But, nobody is going to judge you by your practices.  They are going to judge you by your game.  We’ll find out Saturday.”

Ole Miss received some more good news earlier in the day, as freshman offensive lineman Rishaw Johnson was certified eligible by the NCAA.  The 6-foot-3, 315-pounder from Hammond, La., was at practice Thursday.

The Rebels will hold a final walk-thru Friday at Liberty Bowl Stadium.  Kickoff of the 2007 campaign is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. It will mark the fourth straight year the Rebels and Tigers have met in the opener, with Ole Miss winning the last two.
