Ole Miss Women's Tennis Continues Academic Tradition
8/9/2007 | Women's Tennis
This award honors teams with outstanding academic achievements, requiring a minimum overall 3.2 grade point average to be considered.
“People think that because we have won it so many years in a row that it’s easy to do,” head coach Mark Beyers said. It takes a lot of hard work and commitment from the student-athletes. We are very proud of the team for this accomplishment. It shows the importance they place on being a student as well as an athlete. It’s a great honor.”
The ITA also announced individual honors with Nika Koukhartchouk, Mimi Renaudin, Ilona Somers and Preethi Subramanian being named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Somers, who completed her eligibility in 2007, earned the honor for the second time in her career. Somers ended the year ranked No. 46 in the nation in singles and earned All-SEC honors for the second time in as many years.
An upcoming senior, Koukhartchouk earned the honor for the third year in a row. She owns a 3.67 in Managerial Finance.
Rising seniors Renaudin and Subramanian received the award for the second time. They both join Somers as Lady Rebels who posted a 4.0 GPA for the past spring.
