Former Rebel Golfer Wins SGU Order Of Merit

9/10/2007 | Men's Golf

LANARK, SCOTLAND Former Ole Miss golfer Callum Macaulay won his second consecutive tournament this past weekend and wrapped up the Scottish Golf Union Order Of Merit title.

Macaulay recorded his second successive tournament win with a five under par aggregate of 275 which included a stunning third round course record 63. His nearest Order of Merit challenger Wallace Booth trailed Macaulay by just two shots going into the final day, but could not match the blistering scoring of Macaulay, eventually finishing in fourth place.

Macaulay’s win caps a remarkable rise to prominence for the University of Mississippi graduate, who won his first major 72-hole victory last year at the West of Scotland Open. He advanced to the semifinals of the Amateur Championship this summer and has performed consistently well all year.

As a result of his outstanding play this year, the 23-year old will now be a key member of the Scotland Amateur Senior Team as they bid for a third consecutive win at County Louth in Ireland later this month.

“We are extremely excited for Callum,” said head coach Ernest Ross from Chattanooga, Tenn., where the Rebels are competing in the Scenic City Invitational.  “He has had an excellent year, and the Ole Miss family is very proud of him.”

Macaulay earned All-SEC honors last year while leading the Rebels to the NCAA East Regional and a fourth place finish at the SEC Championship.
