Five Track And Field Rebels Honored In 2007 Rankings

OXFORD, Miss. Five Ole Miss track and field athletes were ranked in Track & Field News’ exclusive 2007 Top 40 world rankings among both professional and amateur athletes as released in the magazine’s January 2008 edition. 

 

On the men’s side, Ole Miss senior John Yarbrough’s best time of 13.45 in the 110-meter hurdles was good for 34th best among all world competitors.  Junior Barnabas Kirui, who was the NCAA Champion in the 3000 meter steeplechase, ranked 34th among world competitors with his school record time of 8:20.36.

 

Charles Bailey, a senior on last year’s team, ranked 24th among United States competitors with his personal best mark of 25-7.5 in the long jump. 

 

Senior Kenyata Coleman’s school record time of 52.19 in the 400 meters ranked 22nd among all United States competitors.  Junior Brittney Reese, who also turned in a school record with a mark of 22-5.0 in the long jump, was ranked 16th among world competitors and is listed as the top competitor in the United States.  In the high jump, Reese was ranked tied for 10th among United States competitors. 

 

Ole Miss returns to action Jan. 11 when the Rebels travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to take part in the Arkansas Invitational.
