Oher Honored On Midseason All-America First Team

OXFORD, Miss. Ole Miss offensive lineman Michael Oher added to his growing collection of accolades on Friday, as he was named a midseason first-team All-American by The Sporting News.

Oher, who was also named a first-team midseason All-American by CBSSports.com, CollegeFootballNews.com and Phil Steele, anchors a Rebel offensive line that ranks fifth in the SEC in rushing and has only allowed eight sacks on the season. He ranks third in the SEC with 41 consecutive starts and was recently named one of the 12 semifinalists for the 39th Rotary Lombardi Award, presented by Wachovia.

The senior from Memphis, Tenn., was among seven SEC players named to The Sporting News first team, which led all conferences. The Western Division landed four players on the team Alabama OL Andre Smith and DT Terrence Cody, LSU OL Herman Johnson and Oher. The three Eastern Division players honored were: Georgia LB Rennie Curran, Tennessee S Eric Berry and Florida PR Brandon James.

Oher and the Rebels travel to Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday to face SEC West rival Arkansas. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
