Women's Tennis Concludes Play At ITA South Regional

ATHENS, Ga. The Ole Miss women’s tennis team concluded its stay at the ITA South Regional Championships Sunday, as sophomore Karen Nijssen lost in the quarterfinals in singles and in the doubles semifinals with freshman Kristi Boxx.

Nijssen and Boxx teamed up in the doubles to reach the semifinals with three wins on Friday. In Sunday’s semifinals, the pair dropped a hard-fought 8-6 decision to Megan Alexander and Marritt Boonstra of Florida.

In the third round of singles, Nijssen knocked off the No. 5 seed, Bianca Eichkom of Miami 7-5, 6-4, before falling to the top seed, Chelsey Gullickson of Georgia, 6-1, 6-3.

The Rebels will be back in action Nov. 6-9 at the SEC Coaches Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
