OXFORD, Miss. Currently riding a five-game winning streak, the Ole Miss women’s basketball team continues its five-game homestand Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. when the Rebels host Nicholls State from Tad Smith Coliseum.

Ole Miss basketball fans will have the opportunity to watch both Rebel teams for the price of one Saturday afternoon as one ticket will gain admission to both games.  The men’s basketball team faces Morgan State at 1 p.m., while the women follow at 3:30 p.m. to face the Lady Colonels.

The Rebels enter the weekend with a 5-0 overall record after Ole Miss defeated in-state foe Alcorn State 63-40 Monday night.  The Rebels have held three of its five opponents this season to 50 points or less and are allowing just 53.0 points per game.  On the offensive end, the Rebels score 71.2 points per game and outscore their opponents by 18.2 points.

Junior guard Bianca Thomas leads the team on the offensive end as she averages 11.6 points per game.  Senior center Shawn Goff, a preseason All-SEC selection, is second on the team with 10.5 points per game and paces the team with 6.0 rebounds per game.  Goff tied her career-high with six rejections Monday against Alcorn State and is now just 21 rejections shy of moving into third place on the school’s career blocked shots list.

Nicholls State enters Saturday’s game sporting an 0-2 record following a 90-33 setback Wednesday night at Louisiana Tech.  The Lady Colonels scored a season-high 33 points at La Tech and are only averaging 31.5 points per game.  In fact, Nicholls State has not scored more than 17 points in any half thus far this season.  Defensively, Nicholls State is allowing its opponents to average 86.5 points per game.  Freshman Jasmine Hoskins leads the Lady Colonels in both scoring (7.5) and rebounding (9.0).

Ole Miss and Nicholls State will be meeting for just the third time when the two teams tip-off Saturday afternoon inside the Tad Pad.  The Rebels are 2-0 against Nicholls State in the all-time series that dates back to the 2005-06 season.  In the two meetings prior to Saturday, Ole Miss has beaten the Lady Colonels by an average margin of 41.0 points per game.  The Rebels have beaten Nicholls State by 45 (2007) and 37 points (2005) in the two previous games.

Ole Miss boasts a 28-6 all-time record against teams from the Southland Conference.  The Rebels have won 17 of their last 18 games against schools from the Southland Conference.  Ole Miss’ last loss to a school from the Southland Conference came in the form of a 66-55 setback to UT-Arlington during the 2006-07 season.
