OXFORD, Miss. The Ole Miss women’s basketball team concludes its five-game homestand Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. when the Rebels welcome No. 6/9 Texas to Tad Smith Coliseum.

Ole Miss enters the contest riding a seven-game winning streak and an undefeated mark following its 85-73 victory over Southeastern Louisiana Thursday afternoon.  Senior center Shawn Goff registered her first double-double of the season and eighth of her career as she finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds to go along with two blocked shots.  Junior Bianca Thomas also added 20 points to help form the first Rebel duo to score 20 or more points in the same game since the 2006-07 season.

Freshman Nikki Byrd scored a career-high 15 points and also made her first career three-pointer against the Lady Lions, while junior guard Shantell Black dished out nine assists and is now second in the conference with 6.0 helpers per game.

Goff continues to lead the Rebels on the offensive end as she averages 13.8 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game.  Defensively, Goff has collected 12 blocks and averages 3.0 rejections per game.  Her 3.0 blocks per game would rank her first in the conference, but she fails to qualify in the rankings because she has yet to play in 75 percent of the team’s games.

Following an 87-38 win over Florida Atlantic on Nov. 30, No. 6/9 Texas enters Sunday’s game sporting an identical 7-0 record.  As a team, Texas averages 87.0 points per game and allows its opponents to score just 50.4 points per game.  In addition, the Longhorns shot 50.4 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from the three-point line.

Junior guard Brittainey Raven leads the team in scoring as she pours in 17.3 points per game, while fellow guard Kathleen Nash is second on the team with 13.3 points per game and first on the team with 6.9 rebounds per game.  Erika Arriaran also scores 11.4 points per game as the third Longhorn to average in double figures.

Ole Miss and Texas renew a storied rivalry Sunday afternoon when the two teams meet for the sixth time and the first since the 1988-89 season.  The Longhorns own a 4-1 record in the all-time series that dates back to the 1981-82 season.  Most recently, however, Ole Miss defeated Texas 88-67 on Dec. 12, 1988 in a matchup of a pair of Top 10 teams.  In that game, the Rebels entered the game ranked sixth in the AP Poll, while the Longhorns were ranked No. 10.  That 21-point victory by Ole Miss stands as the largest margin of victory in the all-time series.  Texas won the first four games between the two.

Ole Miss is 14-8 all-time against teams from the Big 12, and the Rebels have won three of the last four games against the conference.  The five games Ole Miss has played with Texas are the most meetings with any school in the Big 12.  The Rebels have also played Texas Tech and Oklahoma three times.
