OXFORD, Miss. On the heels of an impressive win over Auburn Thursday night in Oxford, the Ole Miss women’s basketball teams looks to make it two in a row when the Lady Rebels take on Alabama Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from Coleman Coliseum in search of their first SEC road win of the season.

Ole Miss (11-14, 5-7 SEC) received an outstanding performance from the bench Thursday night in helping lead the Lady Rebels to a 76-68 win over the Tigers.  The Lady Rebel bench tallied half of Ole Miss’ scoring output, led by sophomore Bianca Thomas’ game-high 16 points to go along with a career-high four steals.  Elizabeth Robertson finished second on the team with 14 points, including 3-for-4 from three-point range.  In addition, Robertson converted a four-point play for the second time in her last three games.

Individually, junior Shawn Goff enters play Sunday with a ranked first on the team and ninth in the SEC with 13.4 points per game.  Goff is also the SEC’s leading shot blocker with 2.28 rejections per game, and needs just four blocks to become the school’s single season all-time shot blocker.  Sophomore Shantell Black averages double figures in scoring as well, checking in with 10.0 points per game.  Black is also first in the SEC and 26th in the nation with 5.32 assists per game.  Senior Carla Bartee is first on the team and eighth in the SEC with 8.1 rebounds per game following her 10-rebound performance Thursday against Auburn.

Alabama (8-19, 1-11 SEC) enters play Sunday 1-11 in the conference having lost 11 straight games after starting the SEC season 1-0 with a victory over South Carolina. During the losing streak, the Crimson Tide have only scored over 60 points in one of the 11 losses. In addition, Alabama has not stayed within single digits of any of its opponents during the losing streak.  The last six games for the Crimson Tide have been the roughest as Alabama has lost each of the six games by 20 or more points. Over the last six games, Alabama is losing by an average of 30.3 points per game.

Alabama is led on the offensive end by freshman forward Tierney Jenkins. Jenkins leads the team with 11.8 points per game and is second on the team with 6.9 rebounds per game. Sophomore Talisha Chandler leads the team with 7.3 rebounds per game.

Ole Miss owns a 29-16 overall record against the Crimson Tide in the all-time series that dates back to the 1976-77 season.  The Lady Rebels have won the last six meetings with the Crimson Tide, and are 9-9 all-time inside Coleman Coliseum.  During the last six meetings, Ole Miss has beaten Alabama by an average of 21.7 points per game. The closest Alabama has come to beating Ole Miss in the last six meetings was a seven point loss in the 2004 SEC Tournament.

The Lady Rebels have not lost to Alabama since falling 67-62 Jan. 15, 2004 at Coleman Coliseum.

Sunday’s game will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams. Earlier this season, Ole Miss forced Alabama into 28 turnovers en route to a 76-47 victory over the Crimson Tide. The win also marked the third straight time the Lady Rebels have held Alabama under 50 points. Ole Miss is 90-0 all-time when holding an opponent under 50 points.
