2/5/2008 | Women's Tennis

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Ole Miss women’s tennis senior Nika Koukhartchouk has been named the SEC Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Tuesday.

The Kaliningrad, Russia native, went 4-0 in singles and doubles last weekend to lead the Lady Rebels (3-2) to wins against Southern University and Troy.  In the match against Troy, she rallied to knock off 65th-ranked Annabelle Bares in three sets at No. 1 singles.

Playing the No. 1 position for the first time in her career, Koukhartchouk is a combined 8-2 in doubles and singles.  She has teamed with freshman Karen Nijssen for a 4-1 record at No.1 doubles.

Koukhartchouk and the Lady Rebels will look to continue their winning ways this Sunday as they host Louisville at 1 p.m. at the Gillom Sports Center.  Admission to all home matches is free.
