Lynn, Satterwhite Named Pre-Season All-America By Baseball America
2/8/2008 | Baseball
It is the third pre-season All-America honor for Lynn who was also honored by Collegiate Baseball and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Both Lynn and Satterwhite have also been named to the Wallace Award Watch List for the Brooks Wallace Award which honors the nation’s top collegiate baseball player.
Lynn earned All-SEC honors as a sophomore in 2007 as he was named to the All-SEC Second Team by the league’s coaches after posting an 8-5 record, including wins over No. 1 Vanderbilt and No. 4 South Carolina. The win over the Gamecocks was a complete-game shutout for Lynn, who earned SEC Pitcher of the Week honors following both victories.
After tossing a complete-game shutout over Southern Miss in the NCAA Oxford Regional,
Satterwhite posted four saves and four wins in relief as a closer for the Rebels as he posted saves over Auburn, No. 4 South Carolina, and Tennessee twice, while also notching wins in relief over No. 25 Alabama, No. 9 Arkansas, Georgia and Southern Miss.
The right-hander was named a Freshman All-America following a 2006 season that also saw him collect Freshman All-SEC honors. He followed that up with the sophomore campaign that saw him claim All-SEC Second Team honors last year.
Ole Miss will take the field to open the 2008 season on Friday, February 22. The Rebels will take on the Golden Gophers of Minneosta with the first game of a three-game series beginning at 3 p.m. at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.
