Ole Miss Men's Golf Captures Linger-Longer Invitational

The Rebels raced out to a seven-shot lead on Friday with a season-low 277 and then maintained their lead Saturday with a 292. Sunday’s final round 287 left them with an 856 total, their lowest of the year and five better than No. 2 Georgia (861). Tennessee-Chattanooga finished third at 868,
“This is the biggest win for our program in the last four years,” head coach Ernest Ross said. “All week we preached persistence, and it paid off. We played the back nine better than any other team again today. I am really excited for our players, to beat No. 2 Georgia and No. 14 Clemson, among others.”
Marino had his best 54-hole tournament finish as a Rebel, taking third with a 67-7769213. His first-round 67 was a career-low. In the final round, Marino eagled the par-4 13th hole.
Senatobia native Kyle Ellis carded a 72-71-72215 to finish tied for sixth. His final round included three birdies and a double-eagle on the par-5 14th. He now has four top-10 finishes on the year and 14 for his career.

The Rebels became just the third team in Ole Miss men’s golf history to win at least four tournaments in a year. The 1983-84 team won six tournaments (including the SEC Championships), and the 1984-85 team captured four titles.
