Rebels Finish Perfect At Red And Blue Classic

The Rebels found their bats late and took
Ole Miss produced three hits in the bottom of the seventh, highlighted by Ashley Dowdy’s double that allowed Lisa Conchos to score, tying the game at one. After holding the Trojans in the top of the eighth, a sacrificed bunt by Lauren Rowe and a sacrifice fly by freshman Morgan Button brought in Amber Tramp, who entered the game in accordance with the international tie-breaker rule, from second and sealed the Rebels’ seventh straight win.
“We showed a lot of heart today,” said Ole Miss head coach Missy Dickerson. “
For the Rebels, sophomore Becky Nye (6-1) picked up the win, after relieving freshman Lindsey Perry in the seventh. Perry gave up one run on three hits with three strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work, while Nye only gave up one hit with one strikeout.
Ashlyn Williams pitched a complete game for the Trojans. Before the seventh, Williams only allowed four hits, and recorded six strikeouts on the day.
The Trojans jumped on the board in the second, as Courtney Davis scored on a sacrifice fly by Hillary Hughes, after reaching base on a double.
The top of the Rebels’ order came through, as both Lisa Conchos and Lauren Grill went 2-for-3, while Lauren Rowe and Alise Doubt rounded out Ole Miss’ seven hits.
Game One
Lisa Conchos led off the sixth inning with a single and was driven in on a double by Ashley Dowdy to give Ole Miss a 2-1 victory over

The Gamecocks mounted a threat in the bottom of the second, as the first two batters reached base on a single and a hit by pitch. However, starting pitcher Tara Willitt settled in and recorded three-straight outs to strand runners at second and third.
O’Neal led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and Nikki Prier reached on a walk with one out to give
Willitt (5-3) pitched 6.1 innings for the win. She gave up one run, on six hits and struck out seven. Nye recorded the final two outs for her first save of the season.
