3/24/2008 | Volleyball

OXFORD, Miss. Ole Miss fans don’t have to wait until this fall to see the Rebel Volleyball team in action as Ole Miss will host its annual spring tournament this weekend.

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, seven teams will take to the court throughout the day to showcase their skills at the Gillom Sports Center on campus. Admission is free.

“This is a great opportunity for us to reconnect with our fans,” said Ole Miss head coach Joe Getzin. “This tournament is really like our version of the spring football game. It’s a great chance to get our team experience for this fall. We are very pleased with the progress we have seen this spring.”

The tournament will have seven teams participating in the tournament including the hometown Rebels. Also competing will be: Arkansas State, Christian Brothers University, Memphis, Murray State, Samford and Division II powerhouse North Alabama.

Last season, the Rebels made a second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance after finishing third in the Southeastern Conference overall standings and posted a 25-8 record on the year.
