Lady Rebels Win 19th Straight Against Mississippi State

The day began with Ole Miss sweeping the doubles. Preethi Subramanian and Soledad Podlipnik defeated State 8-5 at No. 3 doubles. Nika Koukhartchouk and Karen Nijssen, ranked No. 32 in the nation, clinched the point with an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles to finish 8-3 in the SEC.
Koukhartchouk made it 2-0 with an impressive 6-2, 6-3 win over Martina Banikova at No.1 singles, for her second win against the Lady Bulldog this year. Koukhartchouk also defeated Banikova in the Ole Miss Fall Classic.
MSU got on the board when Radka Ferancova defeated Lady Rebel freshman Laura van de Stroet 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Ole Miss increased its lead to 3-1 as Nijssen, ranked No. 99, handed Renee Joseph, ranked No. 112, a 6-3, 6-4 loss at No. 2 singles. Nijssen finished 6-5 in the SEC at No. 2 singles.
The Lady Bulldogs (7-11, 0-11) pulled to within 3-2 when Valeriya Makarycheva beat Podlipnik 7-5, 6-2 at the No. 5 position. That would be it, as senior Mimi Renaudin finished off MSU’s Tatiana Feit in a close match, 7-6(2), 7-5 at No. 6.
Subramanian completed the 5-2 victory with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles against State’s Elna de Villiers.
Ole Miss (7-14, 3-8) will begin play in the SEC Championship Thursday in
