Ole Miss Track And Field Teams Move Up In Rankings

The women’s team moved up three spots and is currently ranked 18th in the country, while the men’s team checks in this week ranked 35th.
Individually, seven members of the women’s team find themselves ranked in their respective events. Senior sprinter Kenyata Coleman currently stands ranked third in the country in the 400 meter dash with her time of 52.54 she set at the Florida Relays. Also in the 400 meters, freshman LaJada Baldwin is ranked 28th with a time of 54.07 that was also set at the Florida Relays. Senior Kasey McDaniel is ranked 19th in the nation in the 100 meter hurdles with her top time of 13.39 coming at the Florida Relays.
In field events, junior Brittney Reese is ranked first in the country in the long jump, having won the event in all seven meets in which she has competed this season spanning both the indoor and outdoor season. Her top outdoor mark was set at the Florida Relays as she leaped 22-07.25. Reese is also ranked sixth in the nation in the high jump with her mark of 5-10.75 she recorded at both the Florida Relays and the Ole Miss Invitational. Senior Carmia Carroll finds herself ranked 19th in the nation in the high jump after recording an NCAA regional mark of 5-08.75 Saturday at the Ole Miss Invitational.
Sophomore Davina Orieukwu is the 35th-ranked shot putter in the nation with her mark of 49-06.00, while freshman Betty Williams is right behind ranked 36th following her mark of 49-5.75 at the Ole Miss Invitational. Williams is also ranked 55th in the discus with her school record mark of 157-01.00 she set at the Southern Miss Invitational.
On the men’s side, senior Rickie Bratton is coming a weekend performance in which he posted the third fastest 100 meters time in school history. Following his showing Saturday, Bratton is ranked 10th in the nation in the event with his time of 10.32. Bratton also posted his best 200 meters time of the year Saturday and is ranked 16th with his mark of 20.90. Fellow senior Anka Autman joins Bratton among the nation’s best in the 100 meters as he checks in ranked 43rd in the event with his top time of 10.50.
Senior John Yarbrough stands ranked sixth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 13.62, while senior Derek Johnson ranks 57th in the event with his time of 14.23.
Sophomore Justin Gunn is ranked ninth in the country in the long jump with a mark of 25-03.25 he set at the Florida Relays. Junior Wale Odetunde is ranked 10th in the triple jump with his distance of 51-09.75 he recorded at the Alabama Relays.
