Two Lady Rebels Receive NCAA Doubles Berth

OXFORD, Miss. Senior Nika Koukhartchouk and freshman Karen Nijssen of the Ole Miss women’s tennis team earned a bid to the NCAA Doubles Championship the individual selections were announced Wednesday.

 

Koukhartchouk and Nijssen ended the regular season ranked No. 32 in the nation and own a 14-8 overall record, including finishing 8-3 in the SEC at No. 1 doubles. Nijssen earned All-SEC second team honors, as well as being named to the All-Freshman Team. 

 

This marks the first NCAA individual appearance for both Koukhartchouk and Nijssen, who become the sixth and seventh players to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships under head coach Mark Beyers.   

The NCAA Individual Championships will take place May 21-26 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla., following the conclusion of the women’s team championships (May 15-20).
