The “She played really well all week from tee to green,” head coach Michele Drinkard said. “She just didn’t make as many putts as she would have liked to. The great part about it, is she got to experience what the NCAA Championships is all about. She can share it with her team and hopefully next year we can bring everybody. I am really proud of her. She’s worked hard all year to achieve her goals and this gives her something to build on for next year.” This marked the first NCAA appearance for Carter and the first for any member of the Lady Rebel program since 2004, when Ole Miss qualified for the East Regional. The Lady Rebels as a team have made four NCAA appearances. Robyn Rinaldo was the last Lady Rebel to participate as an individual, qualifying for the East Regional in 2000. Ranked No. 22 in the nation coming in, Carter earned All-SEC first team honors and was the top finisher for the Lady Rebels in every tournament this season, including four top-five and five top-10 finishes. At the Crimson Tide Classic, Carter carded a school-record 65 in the final round to finish second, narrowly missing her first tournament title by two strokes. Her three-round total of 11-under 205 is also a school-record. Carter, along with teammates Sara Grantham, Jillian Brodd and Ashley Lance, will attempt to qualify for the Women's U.S. Open at the U.S. Open Qualifier Monday in McDonough, Ga.
