Ole Miss Post-Match Quotes
5/10/2008 | Men's Tennis
Head Coach Billy Chadwick
"We got that behind us, and in the beginning, the guys were a little nervous. We hadn't played in three weeks. It kind of showed when we had some double faults and missed what I would consider easy balls. So I feel that we accomplished a lot today by getting a match behind us. The thing you find about every match is that you get pushed in different ways, and it was nice to find that we can play strong in several different positions."
"They've been doing a really good job of working around exams, but there is nothing like stepping out on the court, looking up and it's close to a packed house. All the sudden you realize that it's time to play. It was really a great first round match with a tremendous crowd. We appreciate them coming out on graduation morning, and I want to encourage everybody to come out again tomorrow."
On Bram ten Berg's play...
"It was extremely important for him to be able to play today. We talked about as a team if we are going to be able to make a run we have to have everyone able to play. We thought it was essential for Bram to play today, and he was one of the ones to close it out."
Bram ten Berge
On his double play...
"We started off in doubles, and first match back in like seven weeks, I felt like I was ready to go but it's always hard after a while not playing together to come back and get everything like a well-oiled machine. It's just not going to happen. Those guys, you have to give them some credit. They got some good shots in there. It was hard. It definitely was as comfortable as we would like it."
On his return...
"After the first couple of games where you are always a little nervous, it's for everybody because we haven't played in two weeks since a match but for me it's been seven or eight now. The first couple of games I was a little nervous which I think is very normal. Once I got that first break I started rolling, and after that I was very comfortable."
Robbye Poole
On his play...
"I had a good week of preparation. I didn't make many too unforced errors today. I was working on a few things too. It was a good match for me. It was good to get off the court as quick as possible."
