Billy Chadwick Named ITA Southeast Region Coach Of The Year

This marks the second time in his career for Chadwick to be named Southeast Region Coach of the Year, also earning the honor in 2004.
“I would like to thank the committee and my fellow coaches in the region for this honor, Chadwick said. “This award should really be going to our four seniors. They have done an outstanding job this year leading the team to one of the best years in the history of the program.”
Chadwick guided the Rebels (23-4) to their seventh SEC West title and the 2008 SEC Tournament Championship. This past weekend the team, ranked No. 4 in the nation, advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the 14th time overall and the fourth year in a row. Chadwick joins seven other regional nominees as finalists for the National Coach of the Year Award, which will be announced following the NCAA Team Championships.
Tveit, a two-time All-American in both singles and doubles, received the ITA Sportsmanship Award at the National Team Indoor in February. This season he became the first ever Rebel to earn All-SEC honors all four years. Tveit clinched the 2008 SEC Tournament Championship for the Rebels.
Off the court, Tveit was as a finalist for the SEC Boyd McWhorter Postgraduate Scholarship, receiving a $5,000 postgraduate scholarship.
Tveit is among five other regional nominees to be considered for the Raphael Osuna National Sportsmanship Award. The winner will be announced following the NCAA Championships.
