Staci Ramsey Joins Ole Miss Softball Staff

OXFORD, Miss. Ole Miss softball head coach Missy Dickerson announced the hiring of Staci Ramsey as assistant coach, it was announced on Monday.

Ramsey joins the Rebel staff after spending one season as an assistant coach at Charleston Southern University for head coach Jeff Aumend. While at Charleston Southern, Ramsey served as the Lady Buccaneers’ hitting coach, as well as coaching the infielders and catchers.

“We are very excited for Staci to join our staff,” Dickerson said. “She brings a lot of enthusiasm, passion and excitement that will have a big impact on our staff and program.”

In her one year at Charleston Southern, Ramsey helped lead the Lady Buccaneers to wins over College of Charleston and Charlotte and a no-hit victory over College World Series participant Virginia Tech in 2008.

Ramsey mentored two All-Big South selections, including 2008 second team All-Big South pick Jill Shondel, who set several school records this past season, including season records for extra base hits and doubles and career records for hits, doubles and extra base hits.

The Houston, Texas native began her coaching career after a stellar playing career at the University of Alabama. She competed on three College World Series teams during her four years at the Capstone while playing for head coach Patrick Murphy.

In her senior season in 2006, Ramsey helped lead Alabama to its first ever SEC softball championship and a 15-0 start in conference play. Ramsey was named first team All-SEC and All-South Region, as well as third team All-American for her efforts that season. She was also a second team All-SEC selection in both 2004 and 2005.

Primarily a third baseman (while also playing some at catcher), Staci served as a Crimson Tide student assistant coach in 2007 while completing her degree in Human Environmental Sciences.
