OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss officials announced here Friday that a pair of Northwest Mississippi Community College transfers, Patrick Trahan and Demareo Marr, have been admitted to the University of Mississippi. Both Trahan and Marr will join other first-year participants and mid-year signees Saturday when they report to begin the orientation process, receive physical exams and check out equipment. "We're excited to have Patrick and Demareo in the Ole Miss family," said Rebel head coach Houston Nutt. "Not only are they good athletes, they are good people. I'm really impressed with the players and coaches in the Mississippi junior college system." Trahan, a 6-3, 225-pound linebacker from Baton Rouge, La., was named second team All-America by the National Junior College Athletic Association and the J.C. Gridwire last season. Trahan, who played his freshman year at Auburn before transferring to Northwest, was voted by the coaches as the Region 23 and the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Most Valuable Player in 2007. Marr, a 6-2, 180-pound defensive back from Olive Branch, Miss., was rated the No. 75 JUCO player in the nation by SuperPrep, ranked as the No. 11 JUCO prospect in Mississippi by the Sun-Herald and was a member of The Clarion-Ledger's Top 25 JUCO recruits list. Returning players from last year's team are set to report Sunday, with the first day of pre-season drills scheduled for Monday. Ole Miss will open the 2008 season at home on Aug. 30 against the University of Memphis. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
