Rebels Practice Indoors Friday, Will Scrimmage Saturday

While heavy winds and rain outside pushed the session into the Indoor Practice Facility, Nutt was pleased with the mental aspect of preparation on Friday.
“We’ve got a long day tomorrow,” said the first-year Rebel head coach. “We’ve got some guys bruised up. This was a great mental day, and we got some work done. (Practice) was really good, really crisp. Jason Cook is giving us great leadership on the offensive side of the ball and Peria (Jerry) on the other side.”
The Rebels had a scare on Thursday as senior All-America offensive lineman Michael Oher missed some of practice with a forearm injury, but Nutt reported Friday that the injury was nothing serious.
“He’s full-speed. (X-rays) were totally negative. It was just a big bad bruise on the forearm.”
Ole Miss will hold its annual “Meet the Rebels Day” on Saturday at the Indoor Practice Facility.
Nutt and the rest of the coaching staff will address the crowd at 1:30 p.m., and will join the Rebel players in signing autographs and meeting fans from 2 until 4 p.m. A maximum of two items per person may be signed.
“Meet the Rebels Day” will conclude with the football team holding an intra-squad scrimmage inside of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The scrimmage is set to begin at 6 p.m. and will be open to the public. It will only be moved indoors if there is lightning, Nutt said.
The Rebels open the 2008 season on Aug. 30, at home against
