Ole Miss Working To Accommodate Gameday Parking

8/28/2008 | Football

OXFORD, Miss. With campus construction ongoing and the historic presidential debate nearing, Ole Miss and Oxford are working to provide numerous gameday parking opportunities for the upcoming football season.

Due to preparations for the debate, the Ford Center parking lot will be closed for the Memphis, Samford and Vanderbilt games. The parking lot is expected to re-open for the South Carolina game.

Several public parking areas remain available on Saturdays, including:

MDOT lot on Old Taylor Road (a $10 fee is required for each vehicle, exempt for Grove Society members).
Kinard Hall on Rebel Drive by the water tower.
Intramural fields off Hathorn Road.
Oxford Mall on West Jackson Avenue.
Guyton Hall on Fraternity Row across from the Chancellor’s House.

Parking is strictly prohibited along the sides of the Gertrude Ford Parkway, Highway 6 rights of way and University Avenue from the Circle to the four-way stop.

In addition, the City of Oxford provides shuttle service from various parking locations across town for $2 per person, including:

Oxford Activities Center at 400 Price Street.
Central Middle School at 499 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Oxford Softball/Soccer Complex on McElroy Drive.

Vanderbilt game only - Oxford Conference Center on Sisk Avenue.

As always, fans are encouraged to arrive early. The Grove opens for tailgating at 7 p.m. on Friday, and the team will take their traditional “Walk through the Grove” approximately two hours and 30 minutes before kickoff.
