Rebels Wrap Up Competition At Arkansas Invitational

On the women’s side, sophomore LaJada Baldwin finished in fourth place in the 60 meters with a time of 7.50, and took seventh place in the 200 meters with her time of 24.89. Junior Jasmine Dacus finished in third place in the 400 meters with a time of 57.18.
Sophomore Sofie Persson set a new school record in the 600 meters with a time of 1:30.93 en route to the individual title in the event. Persson surpassed the previous school record of 1:33.52 set by Brandy Mack during the 1998 season. Not far behind, senior Britney Barnard posted a third place finish in the event following her mark of 1:34.24.
The Rebels earned a pair of top-5 finishes in the long jump as sophomore Rachel Jenkins led the way for Ole Miss with a distance of 19-02.50 on her way to a second place showing. Freshman Aria Gaines turned in a fourth place finish in the event with a mark of 17-11.00.
Sophomore Betty Williams recorded the second furthest indoor mark in school history in the shot put as she posted a distance of 46-09.50 to earn a second place finish. Williams went on to finish in fifth place in the weight throw with a mark of 45-11.75. Fellow sophomore Juliana Smith, who set the school record in the weight throw in the opening meet of the season, turned in a second place finish in the event with a distance of 56-00.50.
Freshman Keith Brown recorded two top-5 finishes for the men’s team in sprints, beginning with a fourth place finish in the 60 meters with a time of 6.92. Brown also finished in fourth place in the 200 meters with a time of 22.20. Senior Michael Coleman posted a fifth place finish in the 200 meters following a mark of 22.32.
Junior distance runner Gabriel Ngwiri place fifth in the mile run as he crossed the finish line with a time of 4:31.39.
In field events, freshman Caleb Lee leaped to a third place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 47-07.00, while fellow freshman Brian Knight placed fourth with a mark of 46-11.00. Knight also earned a fourth place finish in the high jump with a distance of 6-04.75.
Senior Derek McGuire earned the second individual title of the meet for Ole Miss as he won the shot put with a distance of 55-00.75.
Ole Miss returns to action Jan. 16-17 when the Rebels travel to
