Women's Tennis To Compete In Baylor Invitational

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's tennis team, coming off a successful tournament last weekend, will send five players to the Baylor Invitational this weekend in Waco, Texas.

The tournament begins Friday with a 64-player singles draw and a 32-team doubles draw.

The Rebels dominated the ITA Southern Regional Championships last weekend, with Kristi Boxx and Karen Nijssen winning the doubles title and Boxx reaching the finals in singles. Ole Miss had three teams and four players reach the quarterfinals in doubles and singles, respectively.

Sophomores Abigail Guthrie and Gabriela Rangel, junior Connor Vogel and senior Soledad Podlipnik will compete in singles this weekend. Sophomore Pippa Reakes will participate in doubles with Guthrie, and Rangel and Vogel will team up together.

Guthrie and Vogel are a combined a 20-4 on the year in singles. Rangel is 7-3.

"This will be the final weekend of competition this fall for most of the team," head coach Mark Beyers said. "We are looking forward to closing out a successful fall with some more good results."
