Rebel Golfers Conclude Play At Gary Koch

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Ole Miss men's golf team came into the final round of the Gary Koch Intercollegiate at 6-under par, but a final round 296 at Old Memorial Sunday, left them with an 866 total and a 10thh-place finish.
"We played a much tougher course today, with longer tees and tougher pins," head coach Ernest Ross said. "We did not putt well, even though the greens were very good. Our team still struggles with too many big numbers and too many missed opportunities on the green.
"We don't have a long time to practice, because we leave in four days for our next tournament. We will get caught up on academics and get in some short game practice this week."
Junior Jonathan Randolph led the Rebels with a 69-73-71--213 to tie for 17th. It marks his 13th career top 20 finish and third in a row this year. Sophomore Billy Brozovich and freshman Tom Brown tied for 32nd with a 217.
Several records were broke at the tournament, including team winner Florida State, whose 834 set a new 54-hole team tournament record. Texas Tech shot a single record with their opening 271, but a third round 300 left them in second. Virginia and Florida tied for third, and North Florida finished fifth.
Auburn's Kyle Kopsick (201) recorded a new 54-hole individual tournament record to capture medalist honors.
The Rebels will head to Macon, Ga., for the Brickyard Collegiate Oct. 10-12.
