Drummond Leaves Rebel Football Program

OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss head football coach Houston Nutt announced here Tuesday that freshman defensive lineman Craig Drummond has left the team for personal reasons.

"Craig Drummond is a fine young man," Nutt said. "What makes it tough is when a guy graduates early and misses out on a lot of high school experience. Between workouts and classes, it's a tough transition. Hopefully he'll work through a lot of these things and maybe come back to us someday.

"This is the best thing for him, and we wish him nothing but the best."

A 6-foot-5, 274-pounder from Chicago, Drummond joined the Rebel football program in January and saw action in the first two games of this season. The Morgan Park High School product was a member of the U.S. Army All-American team and ranked the No. 4 defensive end in the nation by Tom Lemming and the No. 2 player in Illinois by SuperPrep.
