Danielle Johnson Honored For Community Work
11/9/2009 | Soccer
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss senior Danielle Johnson has been recognized for her service off the field, as she has been named a member of the 2009 SEC Soccer Community Service team by the league office.
The first player in program history to be named All-SEC four straight years after she was named last week to the All-SEC first team for the third straight season, Johnson has been just as influential off the field.
Among the community service efforts in which Johnson has participated, she organized a fundraising drive within the local community for the "Play Soccer So They Can" campaign of the Opportunitas Aequa organization, which raised money and social awareness to improve the lives of war-affected children in Rwanda and Uganda.
The Baton Rouge, La., native has also participated in "Reading with the Rebels," a program in which Ole Miss student-athletes read with local elementary students, and she has helped with canned food drives and volunteer coaching with youth soccer teams.
Here is a complete list of the sixth annual SEC Soccer Community Service Team: Brooke Rogers, Alabama; Kathleen Paulsen, Arkansas; Abbie Ragsdale, Auburn; Marsha Harper, Florida; Lindsay Stein, Georgia; Julie Hull, Kentucky; Rachel Yepez, LSU; Danielle Johnson, Ole Miss; Leanna Baldner, Mississippi State; Kacie Brewer, South Carolina; Grace Cuenin, Tennessee; Megan Forester, Vanderbilt.
