OXFORD, Miss. The Ole Miss women’s tennis team will host Troy in their home opener Friday at 2 p.m. at the Gillom Sports Center. The Rebels are searching for their first win of the season after going 0-2 at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Athens, Ga.

The Rebels lost to No. 6 Georgia 4-1 in the first round and then dropped a hard-fought 4-3 match to Florida International in the consolation.  Sophomore Karen Nijssen posted two wins to improve to 10-5 overall. She upset the No. 7 ranked player, Chelsey Gullickson, in the match against Georgia.

All three freshmen saw action last weekend with Abby Guthrie of Auckland, New Zealand going 2-1 in singles and doubles.

Troy comes into the match at 2-0 with their latest win (4-0) coming last Sunday against Louisiana-Lafayette.   The Trojans are led by senior Rawia Elsisi.
