Baldwin Qualifies For Finals At NCAA Indoor Championships

3/13/2009 | Track and Field

COLLEGE STATION, Texas. Ole Miss track and field sophomore LaJada Baldwin qualified for the finals of the 400 meters following a fourth place finish in the preliminaries at the NCAA Indoor Championships Friday afternoon from Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

Baldwin posted a time of 53.54 to reach the finals for the first time in her career. Last season, Baldwin became the first true freshman in school history to compete in an individual event at the NCAA Championships, but fell just short of reaching the finals as she turned in a 14th place finish.

She will look to become the third female in school history to win an individual championship Saturday afternoon in the finals at 5:20 p.m.

Freshman Sofie Persson finished in 11th place of the 800 meter preliminaries with a time of 2:07.41.
