3/19/2009 | Men's Golf

OXFORD, Miss. The No. 21 ranked Ole Miss men’s golf team heads to Statesboro, Ga., this weekend to participate in the 30th annual Schenkel E-Z Go Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern at Forest Heights Country Club.

The elite field features six teams in the top 25, including No. 9 Florida, No. 14 North Carolina State, No. 15 Tennessee, No. 16 South Carolina and No. 18 LSU.

Ole Miss is coming off a fourth place finish at the Seminole Intercollegiate. The Rebels have posted five straight top-five finishes dating back to the fall.

Leading the way for the Rebels this year has been the freshmen duo of Joe David and Sean Dale.  The two are currently ranked as the fifth best freshman class in the nation.  Dale leads the team with a 72.25 stroke average, while David is right behind at 72.30.

Joining them at the Schenkel E-Z Go will be sophomore Jonathan Randolph, redshirt-freshman Billy Brozovich and senior Jesse Speirs. Brozovich, a native of Greenville, Miss., will be making his collegiate tournament debut.

"I think our team is ready for a big challenge,” head coach Ernest Ross said.  “This is a great field at the Schenkel.  We are excited for Billy Brozovich to be playing in his first collegiate tournament.  He has played really well and been ever so close all year to making the squad.  We’re gearing up for the last three tournaments of the year, which will all feature SEC heavy fields. We’ll find out what we’re made of.”
